Help for getting the most out of VertexNova.
Getting started, connecting Twitch and Discord, commands, and what to check when something does not work.
Getting started
During the closed beta, access is by invitation. You receive an invitation code from the person running your installation.
Open the application at app.vertexnova.nl, choose to sign in with Twitch and fill in your invitation code. The code works once.
After signing in, the “Get started” page lists the first steps: switch the bot on for your channel, choose which parts to use, add a few chat commands and invite your team.
Connecting Twitch
Open “Get started” and switch the bot on for your channel. The bot then joins your chat; this can take a moment.
Optional but recommended: type /mod vertexnova in your Twitch chat so the bot can talk in every chat mode (followers-only, slow mode) and is not held back. Without it the bot still works, with the limits of an ordinary viewer.
The status next to your channel name tells you whether the bot is connected.
Connecting Discord
Open Discord → Servers in the dashboard and use the link to add the bot to your server. You need the “Manage Server” permission there.
Make a one-time code, then type /koppel-server in your Discord server and fill in the code. The server appears in your list.
Go to Discord → Auto posts, switch it on and pick a channel for each part. Nothing is posted until you do.
To stop, unlink the server in the dashboard. If the bot is removed from your server the list says so, and the link comes back by itself when the bot returns.
Commands
Open Twitch → Commands and choose “New command”. Give it a name (without the !), a reply, a cooldown and who may use it.
Someone who is not allowed to use a command gets no reply, and it does not use up the cooldown.
Switch on “Extended commands” in the Modules page for aliases, variables such as ${user}, ${count} and ${channel}, and counters.
!dobbel, !8ball and !commands are always available.
Common questions
Does the bot delete messages or time people out?
No. The chat filters record what they catch and can post a short warning. Deleting messages or timing someone out is not something VertexNova does.
Are the points real money?
No. Points are virtual, have no monetary value and cannot be bought, sold or cashed out. VertexNova has no payment features.
Who can see my data?
You and the people in your team, each according to their role. Another streamer on VertexNova cannot see or reach your channel.
Can I take my data with me?
Yes. The Data & limits page downloads everything as a file, and can delete your channel or your account with all its data.
Does the bot read my Discord server?
No. It only posts messages in the channels you picked, and only in servers linked to your channel.
Troubleshooting
The bot does not answer a command.
Check that the bot is switched on on “Get started”, that the command is switched on, and that the person typing is allowed to use it. A command is also quiet during its cooldown.
A Discord post did not arrive.
Open Discord → Auto posts → Activity: every post is listed there with the error when it did not get through. Check that the server is still in your list, that the bot is still in the server, and that you picked a channel for that part.
Signing in is refused.
An invitation code works once and expires. Ask for a new one if it was already used. If Twitch shows an error, try again from the beginning.
The numbers in Analytics are empty.
Analytics is built from your saved chat and recorded streams and is off until you switch it on. On the first saved day everybody counts as new.
Ready to take control?
Open the dashboard. Access may currently be restricted to invited channels.
